Neat definition! Proper service
is “Doing the right thing for the right reason.”
So what is not proper service?
Trying to impress people.
to get them to consider you special?
Offering to be a sponsor to raise your hand
and be recognized as a leader, an insider?
Trying to win newcomers to your “side”
so a matter to be  decided at group conscience
will go as you wish?
“Doing the right thing for the right reason”
is putting the good of the group
in the elevated position in which it belongs.
