Journeys Toward Recovery

Call for Submissions

To “share our experience, strength, and hope,” Eagle Wings Press, recovery and inspirational imprint of Silver Boomer Books, announces the creation of a recovery-focused anthology, in the vein of SBB’s nostalgia anthologies. (See SilverBoomerBooks.com) We are looking for short prose, both fiction and essays, and short poetry focused on the the principles and promises found in the “Big Book” of Alcoholics Anonymous. Writers whose work is accepted will likely be involved in one of the many 12-step recovery groups which reference the Big Book, or at least close friends or family to someone in recovery.

To clarify the sort of material solicited, please see pp. 83-84 of the Big Book for a list of promises and use this list of principles, corresponding to the Twelve Steps: 1. honesty, 2. hope, 3. faith, 4. courage, 5. integrity, 6. willingness, 7. humility, 8. self-discipline, 9. love, 10. perseverance, 11. spiritual awareness, and 12. service.

Guest editors Mimi Dixon and Ginny Greene will join SBB partners Barbara B. Rollins and Becky Haigler in compiling the anthology, Journeys Toward Recovery, scheduled for release in late summer/early fall of 2015. Submissions will be received through the end of July 2014. Guidelines for submissions are at http://eaglewingspress.com/ewp/wp/for-writers/#JTRGuidelines.
