She kneeled in prayer
feeling the underdog,
cringing at the day just past
and began to lambast God
for her feeling tense,
her song, the blues.
She’d had her say
but somehow stayed,
taking time to feel tension wane,
to recall words long forgotten,
“But they who wait for the Lord
shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.”
Tears fell as warmth surrounded her
feeling like a hug.
