We’re not a family legally.
We have mothers, fathers,
brothers, sisters, spouses,
children, cousins and such.
A family of origin, a nuclear family,
am extended family…they’re important
but sometimes issues there
have caused pain…through abuse,
bad habits, pressure to conform
they may not be the most comfortable
companions.

The other family, our family of choice,
we choose because we share common lives,
the same obsessions, a community of Recovery,
the same problems and solutions.
We love both families, but feel more comfort
with the second.
