Jealousy

I inhabit your thoughts,
denying you pleasure
in other people,
for if they have anything
interesting to say,
I make their company
uncomfortable.
Even if you would not want the experience they describe
I make you wish you had the story to tell.
I record in perpetuity
the pleasures they’ve had,
playing them again
should you want to relax
and just be. I close your eyes
so you cannot see simple pleasures
or bountiful blessings as you recall
sometime someone had more, better.
