This time I’ll get it right,
have the willpower,
walk the tightrope,
exercise, just barely eat,
enough to get by but to lose,
to lose the weight, to show them…
This time I’ll make them happy,
show them I have what it takes,
impress them, receive accolades,
be the star. It’s never worked,
these decades past, but this time…

This time I’ll give up, admit I can’t,
turn it over, surrender…and win.
