Food galore, and great stuff —
times past I would have gorged all day.
Such a special day, surrounded by family,
friends, good folk. Stress, feelings,
turmoil within, about. Alcohol,
cake, chips, bountiful food,
but I ate my food plan, perhaps erring
by too little food, portions below goals.
Still, without the calories, minus guilt,
buoyed by a state of well-being,
a benevolent Power in charge,
the day ranks among the best, memorable
and meaningful, abstinently.
