I can daily repeat the 3rd Step Prayer
followed by the 7th Step Prayer
and consider myself to have
turned my will and my life
over to God as I understand God.
But the planning of what to put in my mouth
ought to be turned over as well.
And that doesn’t mean explaining to God
there’s no harm done in playing by ear,
in a substitute not “substantially” different
than the plan. A better plan, I expect,
is thinking about telling my sponsor
what I’d be eating on the plan
and why the change makes sense,
despite my ability to eat by the plan….
She wouldn’t agree, I’m quite sure.
Why should I expect God’s compliance
just because His dissent is not as
colorful, not as resounding as hers!
