You Can’t Bring Them With You

Much as we would like, we cannot bring everyone with us on this journey called recovery. We are not being disloyal by allowing ourselves to move forward. We don’t have to wait for those we love to decide to change as well. ~ Beattie, Melody. The Language of Letting Go: Hazelden Meditation Series (p. 164). Hazelden Publishing. Kindle Edition.

“Life is a mirror and
what you see out there,
you must first see
inside of you” ~ Wally Amos
It doesn’t help when we
stay stuck just because
someone we love is stuck.
Detachment is accepting
what we cannot change,
changing only what we can,
and knowing the difference.
But, as we change, the world
and people around us change,
so changing only what we can
may–probably will–result in bringing
people we wish to change along with us!
Maybe you can bring them with you!

inside of you”
