We Too Have Amends to Make

Our “raging” silence was harmful at times; so was our disgust. Neither our excuses for an alcoholic’s behavior nor our attempts to shame someone into changing helped. We are not innocent of all charges. We too have amends to make. ~ Casey, Karen. A Life of My Own: Meditations on Hope and Acceptance (Hazelden Meditations Book 1) . Hazelden Publishing. Kindle Edition.

I was miffed, not even really angry.
And I expressed it by mightily flipping on the light switch
but the light didn’t illuminate the room.
Now a day later the light remains off
no matter which way it’s toggled.
Whether to try to replace the light bulb,
which would require at least a short ladder,
or whether the wall switch needs replacing…
live electrical wires being even scarier than a ladder…
It will be resolved though probably a friend will be recruited.
Meanwhile I’ll practice becoming who I want to be
each time I enter the room.
We get practice in changing who we are.
We get to become who we want to be.
