Dependent on the Power

The children of Israel were entering the Promised Land, where abundant resources would be available to them and they would face the temptation of affluence. What is that? It is the temptation we all face, when things are going well and supplies are many, to forget our utter dependence on the power, goodness, and faithfulness of God for everything in life. ~ Tripp, Paul David. New Morning Mercies (p. 269). Crossway. Kindle Edition.

Abundant resources available
and the temptation of affluence…
It sounds like our lives before Recovery, does it not?
Do you agree when life seems to be going well
and resources are plentiful we lean on our own wobbly power
and God’s bountiful gifts never cross our minds?
We’re like willful children, “I can do this myself!!”
Let’s have the good sense to accept gracious gifts
and quit playing the super hero!!
God does it oh-so-much-better!!

Isolated is alone with myself. Lonely is alone among you. Solitary is alone with God.
Isolated is alone with myself. Lonely is alone among you. Solitary is alone with God.
