The Next Step

We can’t foresee the outcome of the journey, but we can take the next step. ~ L., Elisabeth. Inner Harvest: Daily Meditations for Recovery from Eating Disorders (Hazelden Meditations) (p. 54). Hazelden Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Was it too dark to put the dumpster out?
Would there be trash collection on President’s Day?
The guess was they’d probably collect,
that it was certainly not dark, just almost dusk.
There are times we must rely on probably
and sufficient light to make the treck.
Sometimes the issue is not so clear,
but guesses are sufficient.
We’d never have had the discussion
had the darkness been darker
and our memory of my falling so clear,
but even wren we can’t foresee the outcome of the journey,
we can take the next step with caution
knowing when help is needed, good Samaritans appear.
