How hard can it be to love myself?
Believe it or not, it’s a sizable challenge!
You have to assume it’s easy….
Didn’t Jesus as near as say so
when he listed the most important commandments?
Love the Lord your God with all tour heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind
and with all your strength. Then second-most
important, Love your neighbor as yourself!
So first I have to conquer loving me!
I don’t feel that. The childhood stance holds tight:
Nobody likes me, everybody hates me
I think I’ll go eat worms!
It doesn’t compute. I can love other people.
Can we change the order?
Love your neighbor as yourself?
I have trouble with that other song…
Jesus loves me, this I know
for the Bible tells me so.
Well, the Bible tells me God loves me
and that Jesus loved his followers…
but me? As I seek and seek and seek
I can become convinces Jesus loves me
and that same seeking says God loves me,
Jesus loves me, and it’s okay to love
for I am loved and I can love
my neighbors and myself.
