The word God has become a closed concept. The moment the word is uttered, a mental image is created, no longer, perhaps, of an old man with a white beard, but still a mental representation of someone or something outside you, and, yes, almost inevitably a male someone or something. In my youth YOUR GOD
IS TOO SMALL
spoke of an internal policeman,
an image of a parent, especially Daddy,
a grand old man,
god-in-a-box…
I’ve heard someone call their
Higher Power “Howard”
as in”Howard be thy name.”
Who is your God?
Is your god real?
Someone you would talk to
like a friend?
Is your god a friend?
