Are you learning
to trust the peace?
Have you received the gifts
of sanity and serenity?
Are you still trying to earn them?
Do you believe you can earn them
with effort and with faith?
You cannot earn gifts.
That would change them,
make them wages, your due.
Your due is what you deserve,
or something it is your right to have.
A gift is different…
a thing given willingly to someone
without payment; a present.
But I never believe I deserve
the good stuff. Accepting a gift
can be tough.
Do you trust a Power
greater than you
enough to accept peace
and serenity as a gift?
