Fear of Ordinary

…the fear of being found out to be ordinary… ~ Weatherhead, Leslie. The Will of God (pp. 82-83). Abingdon Press. Kindle Edition.

Why do we fear being ordinary?
Why did we spend so many years
denying that we were?
Ordinary is merely having
no special or distinctive features; normal.
Do we wish we were abnormal? I think not!
We wish to be habitual, accustomed,
expectedwontedeverydayregular,
routineday-to-dayestablished,
settled, setfixedtraditional.
We fought our way through school
insisting we were real, traditional,
like everybody else,
even we wanted to stand out yet feared
we might.
Let us lay aside the fear,
for we are God’s.
and God makes no junk!
