My Real Task

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~ Rumi

I’m lovable…or so I’ve been told.
I’m respected, so I’m respectable.
Why is that easier to accept than lovable?
I know there’s an issue with using the song
“Jesus loves me” with children
because it’s so tough to proof text it
with inquisitive and literal children
but God loves me. “So we have come to know
and to believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and whoever abides in love
abides in God, and God abides in him.”
and “In this is love, not that we have loved God
but that he loved us…” I know I’m loved
by people, by Jesus, by God, but
that’s not the point. My task
is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find
all the barriers within myself
that I have built against it.
Thank God!
