avoiding those noisy clerks
who figure out how often you come…
going from store to store
so nobody knows the quantity,
the redundancy, the decadence,
the prevarication, the deception,
the fiction to put to shame
the top ten best selling novels…
Eating like a criminal because it’s wrong,
it’s addiction, it’s as detrimental as those
whose cravings really are illegal,
who can go to jail with bars
not just the jail that is the carful of debris,
the furtive trips to dumpsters
to protect the awful truth.
I eat like I’m a criminal
and the food is the loot,
the pillage, the ill-gotten gain.
