Invincible Summer

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. ~ Albert Camus

The winter of my life, depressed,
inert, apathetic, slothful,
in the pit of compulsion…
In the depth of my doldrums
hope appears, incongruous,
absurd. Only on being pulled
from the deepest dungeon
could I find the promise,
the hope, the possibility
of new life, of growth, of abundance…
From winter comes summer,
a gift of grace.
