Before My Time

I look around the rooms,
see people here decades,
see youngsters, teens.
At sixty-five, five years here,
I could feel cheated,
the secret not passed my way.
But I know I had to be readied,
prepared, that for me
it took six decades.
I got here when I was ready,
when the magic worked for me.
I got here at my right time.
